Mindy Fulks

Before becoming a full-time Lecturer in Middle Childhood Education at Wright State University’s Lake Campus, Mindy Fulks worked as an adjunct for Miami University and The University of Dayton. She spent most of her career teaching 35 years for Piqua City Schools, grades 5-8, mainly in the areas of ELA.


She holds degrees from The Ohio State University and The University of Dayton, with additional coursework in sound teaching practices which support, encourage, and motivate middle level students.



Mindy has been the recipient of the PROD Presidential Diversity Award, Miami County’s “Excellence in Education Award”, “Teacher Who Made a Difference” designation, “The Golden Apple Achiever” Award, and OMLA’s West District Regional Teaching Award.


 She has been honored as Piqua’s Teacher of the Year, and has published articles in OMLA’s In the Middle publication. Mindy has presented at national AMLE conferences and at OMLA state conferences with her Wright State preservice teachers.


Residing in Covington with her husband, Sonny, and her French Bulldog, Penny, she has two grown children, Matthew and Layne. Mindy loves books, vacations, and is an awkward, but enthusiastic dancer.
