Michelle Koussa

Michelle completed her undergraduate and graduate work at Ashland University and currently serves as an adjunct professor at the university. She has taught at Independence Middle School since 2006 across grades 5-8 ELA, SS and Genius Hour classes. She currently teaches 6th grade SS. She is the Builders Club advisor, and serves on various professional committees at the school. She has done extensive work in the area of the role of innovation and also creating community partnerships through curriculum and service learning opportunities. Michelle has presented at city, state, and national conferences, and has received various awards at the city and state level. She was part of the 2012 OMLA Team of the Year, and was also the 2019 OMLA Educator of the Year. Michelle resides in Strongsville with her husband Tony,  their sons, Griffin and Oliver, and their 2 dogs.
