Mike Kauffeld graduated from Capital University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Comprehensive Social Studies. He received his Masters Degree in education administration from Ashland University in 2004. Mike coached football at Capital University from 1990 until 1995. He became the Athletic Director at Hamilton Township High School in 1995 and taught social studies and US Government until 2001. Mike  was with the Teays Valley Local School District until 2021. He served as a high school social studies teacher, football coach, middle school assistant principal, and middle school principal. He currently serves as the principal at Toll Gate Middle School with the Pickerington Local School District. Mike's wife, Jenniffer, is a principal with the South Western City Schools.
